The Mailbox Flower Garden is the 5th quilt in this series of projects designed by Maria Tamaoka of Pinwheels and myself. For my Flower Garden I’ve used my hand dyed, sueded cottons in 3 shades of Cheddar for my flowers with accents of Red. Some of the traditional flower blocks are pieced, some are appliqued. The stems and leaves are raw edge applique. I love the sharp contrast of these strong colors against a bright & clean Ivory background. My flower garden is a wonderful combination of sharp, contemporary geometrics and traditional quilt block designs. The varied Green stems add a touch of whimsy and bring the whole garden alive. And, as with all the Mailbox Quilts, each of the 8 blocks can be used individually for a quick little banner or pillow! So bring that flower garden into your home – one flower at a time or go for the whole garden!
