The kits are complete with the single 4” x 6” post card, fabric for the borders, binding, and backing, DMC embroidery floss where needed, and instructions. I can think of many different ways to use & display these fun & quick projects – I’ve shown them here with a single star wire hanger. A great gift idea!

Liberty Homestead Single Vintage Postcards
A Singer For Girls
Here we have two vintage trading cards dated 1910.  These trading cards show Singer’s little hand crank sewing machines made for little girls to learn to sew.  Trading cards were used to promote and sell a product – before the days of television commercials!  Both cards are finished with a sweet yellow rosebud fabric border and a soft green binding.

Left
The card on the left shows a central picture of the Singer “20” machine.  Price $3.00!  It’s being promoted as “Practical and Instructive” and “Useful and Amusing”. Finished Size:  8” x 6”
Post Card & Finishing Kit - $9.95
7 ½” Wire Hanger - $5.95

Right

The card on the right shows our little girl in pink, sewing clothes for her dolls.  The picture is titled “Making dresses for dolly”.  It’s being promoted as “Not a toy, but a practical Singer sewing machine”. Finished Size:  8” x 6”
Post Card & Finishing Kit - $9.95
7 ½” Wire Hanger - $5.95

Chicken Wagon
This is a great trading card from 1885 for Clark’s Mile-End spool cotton.  The spool wagon is being pulled by a duck, driven by a rooster, with a back seat chicken sporting a pink umbrella.  Why Not!  The post card is finished with a soft blue border & binding, with optional old gold decorative stitching. Finished Size:  8” x 6”
Post Card & Finishing Kit - $9.95
7 ½” Wire Hanger - $5.95

Merrick’s American Standard
This is a wonderful trading card from Merrick’s six cord thread – dated 1892.  It features a young boy with long hair and in a dress, titled “Young Columbus”.  With his little wooden sword and his sailing ship in the background, he’s waving his flag and claiming the land for Merrick’s thread – the American standard.  I’ve finished this post card with a ½” tan border, then a dark blue 1” border with optional decorative blue stitching. Finished Size:  7” x 9”
Post Card & Finishing Kit - $9.95
6” Wire Hanger - $5.75

Merrick’s Best Six Cord Thread
This is an 1885 Trading card for Merrick’s best six cord thread.  It features a charming little girl in Victorian dress climbing a giant spool of thread.  Merrick’s thread is sold “for hand and machine use”.  I’ve used a ½” ivory border then a 1” brown border to set off the beautiful colors in this card.  And finished with a decorative brown stitching. Finished Size:  7” x 9”
Post Card & Finishing Kit - $9.95
6” Wire Hanger - $5.75
